Honoring Halabja's Resilience: MHF Commemorates the 33rd Anniversary
Halabja, Kurdistan Region.
In solemn remembrance of the tragic Halabja chemical attack
on the 16th of March 1988, also known as the Halabja Massacre or Bloody Friday,
Mam Humanitarian Foundation (MHF) launched a meaningful campaign under the
banner of "Reliving" on the same date in 2021. This initiative,
guided by the principles of "peace, development, and coexistence," focused
on planting over 5,000 young trees. Each tree represented a poignant
tribute to the souls of the five thousand individuals who lost their lives
during the devastating chemical attack in Halabja.
Beyond the symbolic significance, the "Reliving"
campaign aimed to forge a positive impact on the environment, enhance the
quality of people's lives, and contribute to the creation of a more sustainable
and resilient community. MHF's commitment extended to the augmentation of green
spaces in Halabja, embodying a collective effort to honor the resilience of the
city and its people.
