Highlights from Homeland Festival: Capturing the Essence Through Lenses
Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.
In collaboration with the Iraqi Photographer's Union and the
Kurdistan Photographer's Society in Sulaymaniyah, MHF organized a vibrant
festival on 20/6/2021, bringing together 57 international and local
photographers to showcase their talent in various locations across the city.
The festival featured a captivating collection of over 135 high-quality photos,
each narrating the challenges and adversities faced during the tumultuous year
of 2020 dominated by the global struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The snapshots aimed to depict the diverse lifestyles of
individuals residing in villages, the beauty of nature, the various facets of
societal gender dynamics, and poignant portrayals of vulnerable members of
society. Spanning two days, the festival provided a platform for photographers
to personally engage with visitors, sharing insights into their work and the
compelling stories behind each photograph.
