International Day for the Eradication of Poverty Commemoration
Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.
On the 17th of October 2022, MHF actively participated in
the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, as designated by the
United Nations since 17 October 1987. MHF contributed to this global initiative
by distributing nourishing meals to 150 families in the Hawari Shar district.
Each meal provided was sufficient to sustain a family of six.
Hawari Shar, characterized by numerous housing slums
(informal settlements), faces challenges such as insecurity, limited access to
basic services, and the absence of secure tenure. MHF's involvement aimed to
address immediate needs and raise awareness about the persistent issue of
poverty in the community.
